ABOUT US: Missouri Energy Initiative (MEI) is a nonprofit association of public and private sector entities. MEI is about culture change in Missouri to reverse current trends of poor public support for innovation, technology and education. We believe that providing greater access to non-partisan, science-based information is critical to changing the culture and the mindset of citizens and decision makers. MEI works to enhance and improve the energy business climate in Missouri by coordinating energy activities across all sectors of the Missouri economy, being an honest broker of energy information to the general public, educating K-12, Tech Schools and Higher Education students on energy issues, informing elected officials at the state and federal level on Missouri energy opportunities and issues, and providing a rich environment for energy research and development activities in the state.
GENERAL PURPOSE OF JOB: The Event Management Intern reports to the Business Manager and the Executive Director. This position will work to organize and coordinate MEI events, and help publicize the organization’s multiple events. Candidates should have excellent writing and computer skills and must be highly organized, self-driven with the ability to work under pressure and manage multiple deadlines. Internship will include the organization and development of several conferences, symposiums, and webinars. Job activities include: organizing events, ensuring quality of production, researching locations and partners, proposing new options to better the events, and assist with event management.

Workdays: 10-20 hours per week at the student’s choice. Due to virtual component of the work, this requires a self-driven individual. Little travel required. School holidays and vacations will be respected. Knowledge of Microsoft Office is necessary and history with web content development helpful. Work can be done from campus with occasional site visits from Executive Director and weekly calls to discuss progress and provide needed oversight.
