Sheila Grant serves as the Associate Vice Chancellor for Research and Strategic Initiative at the University of Missouri. She is also a professor in the Department of Biomedical, Biological, and Chemical Engineering. Her research interests include the development of nanostructured bio composites for enhanced tissue integration and utilizing new advances in nanotechnology to develop novel sensing mechanisms and sensing platforms. As a former post-doctoral researcher and research engineer for Lawrence Livermore National Laboratory in California, she has been supported by the NSF, NIH, U.S. Army Research Laboratory, and USDA as well as private companies. Additionally, Dr. Grant holds multiple patents and has created several high tech ventures, raising over $8 million
